What it practises
- Grammar & formal writing: Sentence structure, punctuation, register and building a clear paragraph.
- Language & vocabulary: Vocabulary, spelling, listening and reading for meaning.
This is the area games cover least well. Writing games are paired with untimed writing and review.
Quick lesson: Formal and informal language
Informal language is chatty: slang, short forms and contractions (gonna, cheers, can’t). Formal language uses full words and polite set phrases (I would be grateful, Kind regards).
Check question
