What it practises
- Memory & thinking speed: Holding patterns, sequences and positions in mind while the game moves on.
- Spatial & visual perception: Judging angles, rotations, paths and positions in 2D and 3D space.
Practising a memory task makes you better at that task. We make no claim about memory in daily life.
Quick lesson: Remembering a layout
It is easier to remember a map as routes ("A to B, then B to D") than as a picture. Linking new things to what you already know, like shapes or letters, helps too.
Check question
What is a good way to study a network map quickly?
- Stare at the middle of it
- Count only the nodes
- Trace it as routes from one node
- Look away and guess
Answer: Trace it as routes from one node. Tracing routes turns the map into a sequence you can repeat.
